Marseille are working hard to make Paulo Fonseca their next coach which would mean that AC Milan have to look elsewhere.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the Ligue 1 side are accelerating their efforts to poach the current Lille coach despite the season not yet being at an end.

Fonseca has impressed this season at Lille and could still get his team into third sport, which would mean direct qualification into the Champions League.

They have been playing an attacking brand of football, but have also conceded the third-fewest goals in the French top flight. These two factors make him a very attractive coach for Milan, but Marseille know it too.

Fonseca does still have the option to stay with Lille, but it seems that Marseille have made the most concrete step to secure his services.

One of Marseille’s tactics to ensure that they get their man is to give him free reign over the technical project, meaning he would have a lot of power when it comes to transfers, rather than merely coaching the team.

It seems unlikely that Milan would give Fonseca that level of power, but Milan is a more historic club which will certainly be in the Champions League next season.
